Firstly, some quick pics of my current crochet project in progress. (I am loving this one)
The gorgeous Blooming Flower Cushion from Lucy at Attic24.
Lovely from the back too.
And a finished project, too.
A little pea green .... er.. what shall I call it? infinity scarf? cowl? loop scarf?
(you get the idea)
Not a mighty achievement, really. It was actually pretty quick to hook up, it's just one of those kind of projects which is always side-stepped for something new.
I used one skein of King Cole Bamboo.
(you know me by now- it was £1 in the bargain bucket and the only one of its colour)
But actually, I'm pretty pleased -
I used the magic chainless foundation stitch (my goodness, Miss Molly, it's marvellous) until I reached about 50 inches/ 127cms and then joined with a slip stitch to make a loop. I then alternated rows of double crochet US (treble UK) and half double US (half treble UK).
It ended up about 5 inches/ 13cms wide.
Actually, it could do with being a teeny bit wider, but I love it. And it's all mine.
Perfect for this slightly Autumnal change in the weather, methinks.

Love, love, love your gorgeous green cowl! And as for your blooming flower - beautiful. I'm itching to try one. I can't wait to see yours progress! I really have to try that chainless foundation, I looked it up but then promptly forgot to do it on my latest cowl which in turn had to be undone several times because my foundation chain was too tight. Will go and remind myself of how to do it right now. See ya.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous colour and a beautiful cowl! Have made a few of these over our winter and they are so easy to wear. How great to find yarny bargains, I got some marked down from $12 (6-ish quid) to $3.50 (1 pound 75-ish)! Must try out that chainless foundation stitch though.

ReplyDeleteLove the colours in your flower cushion, I'd been looking at that one too. I fancy using the pattern for flowers to make something like a blanket or cushion with, your wip shows me it would work great at around that size! Well done on the cowl, a bargain for £1!

Must have a go at this chainless foundation stitch. Sounds like just the kind of thing I would like, being a bit of a shortcut. Love the cowl, really love the colour. Will keep a look out for King Cole bamboo when I'm at the Knitting and Stitching show in a couple of weeks. x
