You may recall my first attempt at a doily rug.
It was a tad on the small side.
So I frogged it.
Next attempt?
Wrong, wrong, wrong.
Beautiful pattern from here, but goodness only knows what I did to it. It refused to lie flat and seemed to just have too many stitches.
Blah.
Next?
Yaaaay! It works.
Still not big enough, but I think i'll stick with it and attempt some extra rounds.
And look what came in the post for me......
...more lovely Hooplayarn from the wonderful Jill at Stockton Crafts!
I intend to crack the doily rug pattern and then I have plans for something a bit mad with more of the Hoopla.
Will keep you posted.
Have a great weekend, all.
Xx
P.S. Sorry to the people and patterns mentioned in this post. Blogger is being very naughty and won't let me link to your lovely webpages.
I'll put this right as soon as I can.
I think this rug is going to be really neat. I even showed it to my husband and he thought it was cool.
ReplyDeleteIt's looking good. I really want to make one of those too with the Spaghetti yarn. Have a lovely weekend. Liz xx
ReplyDeleteI love the rug, whatever the size! It's so pretty - and the colour is gorgeous! I also love your ENORMOUS hook!!! :-)

It looks GREAT! It'd sell for a fortune in a nice little homewares shop...

Aaaah that's much better - it looks really fab!! And those comedy sized crochet hooks make me chuckle everytime I see them!! :o)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what you get up to with the rest of your hoopla yarn too - I've never seen that yarn before but I'm tempted to get some now.
Have a lovely weekend :o)
Ha ha Sarah... you made me laugh seeing the Hoopla inside the box I had posted to you! I love the re-made doily rug.. I know it is tricky with Hoopla, it seems to react really well to some patterns and hate others...but when you find a lovely one like this it is beautiful. I shall look forward to seeing it grow...and what are you going to do thats mad..a giant Korknisse? :)x
ReplyDeleteLove the rug, I swear I have to give it a try. I may be visiting my fav yarn store in Sarasota tomorrow so I will look for some think yarn for rug making. Happy Weekend to you.

Looking good so far. No matter what size you make it, it looks great and I'm sure you will find some use for it. Would look great even under a big potted plant. Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteYeah, just keep on going I reckon!
ReplyDeleteThis freaks me out a bit - an old friend of mine used to do 'am I big or am I little' photographs with over-sized items. It was always pretty funny.... Anyhow, this is like one of those photos... Is the crochet big or are they the feet of a borrower...?? Ha!
ReplyDeleteLovely colour, looking forward to seeing it finished xx
Looks great, and I am so curious what the bigger thing with lots of yarn will be...
ReplyDeleteI WANT some of that yarn!!! Too bad I'm in the states. Boo hiss!!! LOVE the rug, great job!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking fabulous hon (so are those socks!!). The size of the flippin' hook cracks me up completely. Right off to make a cuppa and finish my blanket. Forecast is good enough for a picnic on it tomorrow - yippee!! Have a fab weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful rug, and I can't believe the size of the hook! I have huge knitting needles but you can tuck those under your arm as you go. Is that hook hard work?
ReplyDeleteIt's looking fab! I still can't see the links to thepattern, so could you let me have them - I still can't find that damn magazine and I'm starting to think I imagined it
ReplyDeleteThis is looking great!! What size hook are you using?
ReplyDeleteOoo the rug looks great! It's going to be gorgeous, look forward to seeing it grow :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Sunday!
Lori xx
I NEED to get hold of some of that yarn! mat looks great - was that with just one cone? Elaine x

your rug is amazing! i cannot wait to see it complete it will be brilliant & beautiful
ReplyDeleteIn answer to the questions, I used a 20 mm hook and it is actually quite easy to use- the Hooplayarn I chose has got a bit of stretch!
ReplyDeleteXx
This is such a good idea, I hope you do find a pattern which will work because I love the look of it. Tres chic!
ReplyDeleteI've added a link to your site, listing you as a PCH maker, I hope that's ok. If you want to pop by and grab yourself a button to display on your site, please do!

Thanks for the pattern link. I can't reply to your emails - I can't email anyone with a hotmail address all of a sudden!
ReplyDeleteHi there. I'm planning to make a rug of my own. How much of the hoopla did you use in the end, and how big did your rug turn out? Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHi Megibson!
DeleteNow, I am ashamed to say, this is as far as I got with the rug. It sits languishing in bag with other WIPs awaiting their completion.
I think it would take 2-3 cones of Hoopla to get something of a reasonable size, but I'm not too sure.
So sorry I can't help you further and good luck with yours. Do let me know how you get on.
Xx
Hi Annaboo, I've just ordered 5 cones of white hoopla so I'm awaiting the finishing of your rug to help me out with the increase in the pattern - I'm terrible at that sort of thing!
