I wanted to make a simple shrug.
Guage: 7.5 stitches and 4 rows to 5 inches
If you want to make your shrug longer, then add more rows where the pattern indicates - don't forget to buy more yarn, too.

Nothing too fancy, and certainly nothing too complicated.
Oh, and something quick.
I loves a quick project.
And so I designed one.
Actually, I designed three; in small, medium and large sizes.
And I called it The Simple Shrug (bet you didn't see that one coming..).
What makes it simple, I hear you ask?
Well, it only has 10 (ish) rows.
You only need to know chain, double and treble crochet stitches (UK) / chain, single and double crochet stitches (US) and how to work the back loops only (BLO).
And you can make it in a couple of hours because it uses chunky-monkey yarn and a mahooosive hook.
What's not to love?
You can see me making it on Craft Daily TV, too!
So here you are!
Enjoy making,
Sarah x

SIMPLE SHRUG PATTERN (UK)
Small. To fit bust 32-34"
Medium. To fit bust 36-38"
Large. To fit bust 40-42"
All sizes are approximate. Due to the stitch construction, the shrug has some stretch.
Guage: 7.5 stitches and 4 rows to 5 inches
Abbreviations:
Chain = ch
Stitches = sts
Slip stitch = sl st
Double crochet = dc
Treble crochet = tr
Back loops only = BLO
Construction:
This pattern is worked in joined rounds. When you begin a round, make the chain/s and then put the first stitch of the round in the same stitch as the chain. When you've finished the round, join with a sl st to the first stitch, ignoring the sl st and chain from the previous round. (See the show on Craft Daily TV for a demonstration)
All rounds are worked in BLO

Hi Sarah
ReplyDeleteThat's so clever - and so simple ! Love it in that shade too.

Thank you for sharing this! It's like you read my mind! 😘😘
ReplyDeletethis is gorgeous thanks for sharing! I've been thinking about making a shrug for ages and this fits the bill perfectly. I might test out a 'multicoloured' one, as I need to use up my stash before I can justify buying anything more, though your wool and colour choice are divine :) jenny xx
ReplyDeleteI love love love this, will try to get round to making one near the end of this month, other things to finish first. Great idea, Sarah x
ReplyDeleteOw wow, this is adorable! I would love it if you add it to my crochet link party on weekends. Have a lovely sunny day!
ReplyDeleteAll the best from Holland, Annemarie
It's lovely - thanks for the pattern.
ReplyDeletewell goodmorning, i love your shrug, and such nice pics of it.
ReplyDeleteI just started a whole new blog, hope you will take a peek at this new born one?
Greetings Anita
I do agree with all the concepts you have introduced for
ReplyDeleteyour post. They're really convincing and can certainly work.
Still, the posts are very quick for newbies. May you please extend them a little from subsequent time?
Thanks for the post.
Just finished this and I absolutely love it!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the free pattern.
You’re very welcome x
DeleteI’m afraid this is only available in English.
ReplyDeleteSarah
This would make a lovely shrug in a sparkly yarn for a bride & bridal party.
