Easter chickies

I cannot take any credit for this gorgeous Easter decoration! I found it via the lovely ladies at Yarn Around Hook / Northern Hi-Lights and originally at Pixie Peg Crafts

Easter chickies

I love them. They are so cute and chicky and fun! I have made loads as presents for friends this Easter and everyone seems so pleased with them! And they have cost virtually nothing - well except for a few dozen chicks courtesy of the pound shop, some sticks from the local trees and some ribbon from my stash.

Easter gifts sorted.

Happy Easter to all.

All change!

Hoooooooorraaahhhhhhhh!

It's taken a while, but eventually the awful middle-of-the-room divider/glass cabinet between the kitchen and breakfast room has been taken down. Here's the before photo ...

Before demolishion

...and the after ...

After demolish ion

What a difference! And it took a surprisingly short amount of time to do.

It feels so much bigger and brighter. Much better for the summer.

**What's that coming over the hill, is it a monster?**

No, not a monster exactly but a handmade crochet dolly for my little Number 2.

Dolly beginnings

Being a beginner in this big ol' crochet world, and having no idea where to start, I looked for some inspiration and found one of my mum's knitting books by Fiona Goble, 'Knitivity'.

So I used Fiona's knitting pattern for a basic doll and had a go at converting it into A crochet-amigurumi pattern. Not too bad, I think, even though it looks a bit mental.

Bare dolly!

Ahh, much improved by the simple addition of chain stitch hair..

Dressed doll

A little crochet dress helps things along too. Much less monstrous. (Although I think I made the dress a bit too wide at the bottom and not quite long enough for my liking- I'll have another go soon)

We :) Kitsch

What a fun find in the charity shop today - a very useful pack of 50-odd needles in a fab vintage case! Brillo!

How marvellous! Now I have lots and lots of needles in a groovy case. What more could I want? (oh, except a bit more time to actually indulge my creative side... Meh..)

Makey-bakey and Fab vintage find

Ooooh I love a bit of vintage/second-hand shopping: Finding something that no-one else has, bartering over the price (not in a charity shop, that would be shameful!) and finding a place for it at home, all fill me with a warm glow. Here's one of my recent finds:

A beautiful dresser. Not cheap, but just so perfect and fabulous it makes my heart sing!

Old dresser

Can't wait to fill it with glassware and take a sledge-hammer to the awful kitchen unit which came with our new-ish house!!

And as for the makey-bakey? Well I just liked these photos of a recent biscuit bake sesh with with the kids..

Yummy.

Spring blossom and spooky trees

Today we did the Woodland Walk into town and despite the light drizzle, it was quite stunning:

Blossom a-plenty

and the ever-so-slightly eerie trees which grow horizontally and look like huge stick-insect monsters

I love this time of year..
